Picks and Pans Review: Every Young Man's Dream

UPDATED 06/03/1985 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 06/03/1985 at 01:00 AM EDT

by Morry Frank

Darrel Skaitts, the hero of this first novel, is no quiche eater. A Southern League shortstop with the Nashville Vols (he hit 27 homers), he lives in hotels because "You can start to like an apartment and become effeminate." In a world populated by "mullet heads," he is branded a troublemaker. Frank, a Hollywood screenwriter, captures the seedy, fly-by-night atmosphere surrounding the bush leagues. He has pounded out a literary dinger. (Silverback, $9.95)
