Caroline's little tadpole
One day he could rule a principality. In the meantime, Andrea, son of Monaco's Princess Caroline and husband Stefano Casiraghi, has a few tasks to master. During his first public swim lesson at the Monte-Carlo Beach Club, Andrea was coaxed along by his aunt, Princess Stephanie (above left), Mom, and—no, not Dad but Caroline's former flame, Robertino Rossellini. In fact, Rossellini often shows up around Caroline and Stefano these days, fueling gossip that Caroline's marriage is in hot water—though palace observers insist Robertino is a family friend. But the water was just fine for Andrea, who celebrated his first birthday June 8.
On the sunny side of defeat
Even a prince can have a tough chukker. That's just what happened to Britain's Charles, who fluffed a couple of scoring attempts as his team, the Diables Bleus, lost an important polo match to another club, Maple Leaf, by a score of 9 to 8. Princess Diana awarded a trophy to the winners, then rushed over to her husband and whispered, "Well done." Grateful, Charles led her behind a nearby Land-Rover and caught a buss, as it were. Well done.
