Picks and Pans Review: Raspberry Beret
Prince and the Revolution
Here's the visual version of Prince's pop salute to psychedelia for folks who weren't even born in the '60s. The only vocal thing he does that seems live on the video is his cough to clear his throat before the usual lip-synching begins. And the only thing interesting about this clip is the use of visually striking animation that acts as a background and even appears on Prince's clothing in some scenes. The rest is typical performance fakery and choreographed Prince worship. The true mystery is where Prince obtained the dreadful Liza Minnelli haircut he sports in this mostly monotonous video.
