Thank you for your excellent coverage of the concert (PEOPLE, July 29). It was a phenomenal event. Bob Geldof most definitely deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

After enjoying every minute of Live Aid, all the press coverage on it and finally the article in PEOPLE, I did miss seeing Bob Geldof's face on the cover. After all, if it weren't for his endless energy and support, Live Aid would never have been.
is a product of MTV. Even she admits what a put-on she is. Including her in that cover photo with artists that have been in the music industry for decades would be like putting her on the cover with Sir Laurence Olivier just because of her role in Desperately Seeking Susan. Now wait a minute...don't get any ideas!

The music that was heard at the concert has often been tagged by the "older generation" as "rotting the minds of youth." Well look at us now! Combined with those "awful" rockers, we're feeding and touching the youth halfway around the world. Now what do you say about that?

Being a Harlan myself, when I read of that side of the clan's heroics during the California fires, I wasn't in the least surprised. We're all "kinfolks," or so I've been told, and I've been accused many times of being "mule headed just like the rest of the Harlans!" I'm delighted to know that Harlan determination and stubbornness paid off!

Hooray for Ms. Derickson! As a flight attendant I am proud of the courage and composure that she displayed during the hijacking of Flight 847. I was shocked that a contemporary publication like PEOPLE could be so out of touch with today's standards and call her a stewardess, a term that was used nearly 10 years ago. Obviously Uli Derickson has gained a great deal of respect from the American public. Your magazine could have shown a little more respect by referring to Ms. Derickson by her professional title—flight attendant.

On an aircraft that must have carried at least eight working flight attendants, it is interesting that Uli Derickson never credits her co-workers with any type of assistance besides helping her serve omelettes. As a flight attendant with nearly as much seniority as Ms. Derickson, I have had my share of air scares, from flaming engines to near misses, heart attacks and more. In every instance each flight attendant reverted to his or her professional training in reacting to emergencies and made a vital contribution, from major to minor, in handling the situation, all part of a team effort in a crisis. Although there is no doubt that Ms. Derickson performed admirably and bravely, I'd have more respect for her if she didn't try to hog 100 percent of the credit.

Profound thanks to the "old-timers" on your staff responsible for compiling the list of things gone but certainly not forgotten. I'd like to see the return of a single, uncomplicated airline rate schedule.

I thought you'd be interested to know that milkmen are alive and well. My father-in-law has been a home-delivery milkman for close to 25 years. He and his wife have raised seven children, and he's still going strong. My children and others in our neighborhood love to see Dad's truck pull up. He usually has surprises in his pocket and has wiped more than one nose in his career! He always has a moment and a kind word for the many elderly and shut-ins on his route. Long live the time-honored profession of the milkman, with or without cream on top!

Your reviewers have totally missed the boat when they claimed Beaver Brown is a "Bruce Springsteen clone." Both Beaver and Bruce evolved from the same rhythm-and-blues background. It just took Beaver Brown about 10 years longer to make it.
Your magazine confused Fishkill Correctional Facility and Downstate Correctional Facility in the Pentagon Peace Ribbon story (PEOPLE, July 8). Fishkill is in Beacon, N.Y. and has about 1,700 men serving time for all sorts of crimes. The pictures of us were from Fishkill.
