I missed this eight-part series when it started because, frankly, it sounded ponderous and plain boring—somebody droning on about the history and future of war. Slap my wrist and send me to bed without dinner—I was wrong. And while you're at it, slap PBS' wrist for putting this series on the air during the networks' blitzkrieg of new-season hype, when too few viewers will watch. Gwynne Dyer, a Canadian journalist and military historian, gives you a low-key but compellingly new view of how nuclear weapons really do change war and the world. Don't miss it.
