By George Burns
"Dear George—I seem to be having a hard time getting ahead in life. The other day I read that Thomas Edison once said, 'Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.' Do you believe that?—Going Nowhere"
"Dear Going—I'm not sure Edison ever said that. All I know is the last time I danced with him he could have used a can of Right Guard. (That really deserves a better answer. To me, Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% good writers. I don't sweat.)"
This exchange comes from the comedian's sixth book, which is made up of silly letters and ridiculous answers. For those who can't get enough of the 89-year-old phenomenon in movies and television, here is an un-censored George with more innuendo than Mae West. There are photographs, including one of Burns being kissed by Bob Hope. It's that kind of book. (Putnam, $12.95)
