Paul Tibbetts, who flew the B-29 that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, recalled the day in 1959 when he met Mitsuo Fuchida, the Japanese pilot who led the attack on Pearl Harbor. "I said, 'Boy, you sure took us by surprise,' " Tibbetts remembered. "He said, 'You didn't do too bad yourself.' "
