University of Chicago biochemist Roy ("we want a specimen alive") Mackal announced plans to travel for the second time to the People's Republic of the Congo to search for mokele-mbembe, a supposed 30-foot dinosaur. (Mackal's 1981 trip ended inconclusively.) He also has plans to search for a giant octopus—perhaps as long as 200 feet—in the Bahamas. If that search fails, perhaps he could be enlisted in the hunt for Regis Philbin.

The President's son, Ronald Prescott Reagan, covered the Reagan-Gorbachev summit meeting in Geneva for Playboy magazine. One of his questions was, "Are you ready, Dad?" The President replied, "Absolutely."
