Dolly Parton began construction of her 400-acre theme park, Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The park will include a museum, a theater, a restaurant, rides and a private apartment for Dolly. "When you see my bras hanging outside," she said at the ground breaking, "you'll know I'm in town."

John De Lorean was hospitalized during protracted legal battles with ex-wife Cristina over custody of their two children and an estimated $10 million in assets. De Lorean blamed his ex-wife's "greed" for his health problems and lamented, "I don't have much left in the world." Cristina, now the wife of film executive Anthony Thomopoulos, testified that she had signed a prenuptial agreement with De Lorean in which she renounced all claims on his wealth. But she said she signed the agreement without reading it and asked the court to disregard the document. Prior to all the turmoil, De Lorean was reportedly planning a new line of $65,000 sports cars.
