Kevin (The White Shadow) Hooks plays a 25-year-old man who's elected mayor to even his surprise. He sings Duke of Earl'm the office. He argues with his father, a city janitor. "Dad," Hooks says, "you just can't fight City Hall." Dad replies, "Son, you are City Hall." The audience guffaws and shouts "awright!" as if that exchange were both profound and funny. Can't blame them, for that line's better than the rest of the old gags (cheap even when new) about centerfolds and saving whales. A lame duck.
