Picks and Pans Review: Jane Fonda's New Workout

UPDATED 02/17/1986 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 02/17/1986 at 01:00 AM EST

One thing about watching Jane and all her improbably svelte, glamour puss companions bounce around with apparently unlimited stamina: It will either be so discouraging you'll head for the chocolate stash immediately and never even walk fast again, or you'll resolve to show her up. This is the fifth of her workout tapes and it's typically upbeat, full of dopey whoops and grins. There's even a specially written song, Do It, sung by one of Fonda's exercise instructors, Leslie Lilien. (She lip-synchs the tune right after Jane points out that anyone breathing properly should be able to sing along easily while exercising. There is a tough beginner's section and an advanced half right out of Marine boot camp, but Fonda and director Sidney Galanty have become adept at setting up a groove and luring a viewer into it.
