Official duties can be hard on the high and mighty, judging from the nodding looks recently displayed by Vice-President George Bush and Pope John Paul II. Bush was caught stifling a patrician yawn during his boss's State of the Union address. Presumably it wasn't a comment on the presidential style. John Paul's papal gape came five days into his tour of India, during a mass attended by more than 500,000 people on a beach in Madras. No matter how willing the spirit, the flesh is still susceptible to jet lag.
