What a kick, what a hoot, what a treat! Here's Australia's answer to Dallas and Dynasty, a "soapie" (as they call it) with warring families and wads of wealth. "Where there's money," says a line in the script, "there's muck." There're also affairs aplenty (though not much flesh), a grand old dame, a devil baby, two kidnappers, a slut reporter, a sweet teacher, an evil businessman, a superb deathbed scene...everything you ever wanted in a soap. But mostly there's plot—a tangled, tawdry tale that'll keep you coming back, as Lifetime runs the full series daily and again nightly at 11 p.m. over two weeks. Our own soaps, daytime and nighttime, could learn a few things from this Aussie copy—namely, how a good story is better entertainment than even the best wardrobe.
