Richard Crenna plays a cop turned lawyer who takes on an apparently impossible case: suing two white cops in Boston for the shooting of a black man who had been wrongly accused of robbery. The story is true; if you don't remember how it ends, I won't ruin it for you. What's intriguing about Deadly Force is watching how Crenna and his family full of lawyers solve the case, uncovering one lie after another, fighting for what's right without ever preaching. Just one nitpick: In their admirable attempt to avoid dull courtroom scenes, the producers didn't do a great job of summing up Crenna's case. Still, Deadly Force is an engrossing flick.
