Lloyd (NBC Overnight) Dobyns, one of TV's best reporters, uncovers the myths behind Japan's economic miracle. We've been led to believe that the Japanese all have lifetime job guarantees in modern, robot-run plants. In fact, Dobyns reports, most factory employees work in awful conditions for small firms that pay half what the big ones do and offer no job security. Japan's elderly are exploited and too often uncared-for and women are paid less than men. The show is repetitive at the start but scathing in the end.
