The distinctive curves and colors of Scarry's drawing style are always reassuring. The three tales on this half-hour tape—Old Mac-Donald's Farm, The Wolf and the Kids and The Musicians of Bremen—are all in that style, though the illustrations are mostly successions of still drawings rather than animated ones. The words to accompanying songs, both the familiar Old MacDonaldand original tunes for The Musicians of Bremen, are overlaid on the screen, so that children old enough to read can sing along. The tone and humor of these stories is on the traditional side, with not much that would appeal to adults, but they have a solid, gentle approach that might be a relief for children suffering from high-tech overdose in their entertainment.
