...NBC's The Last Precinct, another beast from Cannell's video zoo, tried to copy Police Academy and The Keystone Kops. But the humor was less imaginative and sophisticated than Howdy Doody. And the cleavage gags made Porky's look mature. Grade: D.
...ABC's Joe Bash, another police show from the creator of Barney Miller, was at least inventive. Peter (Joe) Boyle played a whining, growling, grumpy cop on the beat. That made him different for TV. But that didn't make him fun to watch. An A for effort. But the grade: B-.
...Now the good news: Neither Stingray nor The Last Precinct nor Joe Bash has been renewed for the fall.
