The Nancy Reagan Drug Abuse Fund tennis tournament at the White House featured Mary Lou Retton and Mr. T as umpires. Still, Secretary of State George Shultz and pro Pam Shriver took the game seriously enough to beat the likes of Dina Merrill and Stan Smith in doubles competition. But the real winners were hosts Tom Selleck and Nancy Reagan, who netted $100,000 for her pet cause.

Together Naess
It's not every day that she gets to watch him perform. But when Diana Ross, 42, and husband Arne Naess, 48, turned up at a small auditorium in L.A., it was to view a documentary about Arne's 1985 Mount Everest expedition. If Arne is hoping for a showbiz career, he certainly had the right audience: Among Diana's guests at the screening were Mo-town's Berry Gordy and the Golden Nugget's impresario Stephen Wynn.
