Peter Gabriel

This is a tour de force from one of rock's most original and stimulating figures. So, lovingly crafted by Gabriel and co-producer Daniel Lanois, has a fundamental, powerful sound. The songs are striking, the arrangements progressive and clever. Gabriel's voice has never been better as is especially evident on the exuberant single Sledgehammer. The melodic and lyrical moods of this LP are diverse, from the disturbing dreamscape of Red Rain to Don't Give Up, a Depression-era dialogue between Gabriel and Kate Bush as the voices of pride and despair. With So, Gabriel has created his most intelligent, exciting and accessible music. (Geffen)
