Max Headroom, the computerized competitor to David Letterman, has returned. Bravo. It would take forever to explain how Max (played by Matt Frewer and then played with by a computer) got into a machine, how he got his strange video stutter, and what he is. But he's the hippest thing on video (Letterman's still the hippest human). He's hilarious. When Max appeared on Letterman's show to plug his own show, Dave shook his head and asked, "You don't happen to have a plate in your head, do ya?" Said Max: "I got a full set of china." On his new show, Max has a studio audience and music videos and guests (Michael Caine plays along in the premiere). As weird as ever and just wonderful.
