This American-made Cinemax Comedy Experiment tries to be as provocative a parody as Britain's Spitting Image and Max Headroom—but Shadoevision doesn't pull it off. Not a great moment for national pride. As Shadoevision begins, all TVs are jammed with voices saying: "This is not mind control. Think about it." Then a wimpy accountant is shoved through an "interdimensional door" into a brainwashing TV talk show, "the show that keeps your mind in mind." Then odd things happen, things too strange, senseless and sophomoric to describe. Though Shadoevision has a fair dose of imagination, it has no discernible point.
