Picks and Pans Review: Sidekicks
What a lovely lesson to teach children: When you can't get along with people, just kick them in the face, stomach, neck, kidneys or groin. That's what little Ernie Reyes Jr., kid karate expert, does. His guardian and role model, Gil Gerard as a cop, does worse: He shoots guns. The kid is too perfect. He cooks, cleans, redecorates, looks cheerily on life as an orphan and spouts some Asian brand of est: "A task left undone grows larger." I long for the simpler days when kids played cooties and Little League.
