Picks and Pans Review: Starman
In the 1984 movie Starman, Jeff Bridges as the visitor from Out There kept cocking his head like a befuddled poodle, confused at this odd planet of ours. In the Starman series Robert (Airplane!) Hays takes on Bridges' role and affectation when he returns to rescue his son from an evil G-man who wants to "debrief, disect and vivisect" spacemen. The story, the alien and his neck-cricking were charming in the movie—but after about 100 of its 115 minutes, they started wearing thin. Now, in the series, they've worn through. Bridges' stay on earth lasted three days. Hays's shouldn't last much longer.
