The plot is reminiscent of Brooke Shields's TV movie, Wet Gold, about a grizzled sailor, an adventuresome kid and a promise of gold. The sailor is Fred (Ftemo Williams) Ward, the kid is a boy this time (no bikini scenes for him) and Raul (Kiss of the Spider Woman) Julia is the Cuban exile who leads them back to Cuba to find $2 million in gold and a lost love. All a treasure-hunting movie needs is excitement and suspense. This one delivers both early in a simple scene at a gas pump. But Straits fails to excite again even with its arsenal of machetes, machine guns and gunboats and with Fidel's clumsy army of Keystone Kuban Kommies. Predictable.
