The AIDS Show is an odd but often touching San Francisco play that uses drama, music and even humor to examine the emotions of people whose lives have been attacked by the disease. Rather than just filming the play—which would have been the sensible thing to do—the show builds a flimsy documentary around it.

John Denver runs an orphanage filled with oddballs who love him. An evil bureaucrat wants to kick the kids out and sell the house, but with Cindy Williams' help, John wins the day. A sweet but slow kids' show.
