First Amendment advocates toasted one of their own when TV commentator Bill Movers was honored in New York by Norman Lear's People for the American Way. Moyers and wife Judith (below) chatted up guests while Kathleen Turner practiced her constitutional rights on Lear. Comic Jay Leno (above) concluded, "TV game shows produce mutant offspring," but "Moyers makes you think."

With her new album, Rockbird, just out, blondie Debbie Harry took time to model a safety-pin suit by designer Stephen Sprouse at a benefit auction for AIDS in Manhattan.

St. Elsewhere cut-up Howie Mandel joined cast members in helping NBC Entertainment chief Brandon Tartikoff have his cake and eat it too, as the show marked its 100th episode.
