PBS (Wed., Dec. 3, 10:30 p.m. ET)

As a former single and lonely guy myself, I can attest to the sad truth in this half-hour tragicomedy starring John Rothman as a man at a table for one who spends dinner fantasizing about life with his waitress. "Good evening, I'm your customer, Arthur," he imagines himself saying as he tries to find any tiny flicker of affection in the way she takes his order. "Very good, perfect," he tells himself after requesting another glass of wine, "make her come to you." A neat little show and the freshest breath of air I've smelled from PBS in a while.
