Picks and Pans Review: Noteworthy

by the Ravinia Festival

This is the sleeper of 1986, a cookbook that has sold 30,000 copies, remarkable for a community project. Even the organizers—the Women's Board of Ravinia Festival, a summer series of outdoor concerts in Highland Park, Ill.—are stunned by its success. Among the 600 recipes, many from family files, are such temptations as lemon pasta with caviar, romaine soufflé, Southern spice cookies and a barbecue sauce that lists port and chutney among its 15 ingredients. (Profits from the book are for a proposed Young Artists Institute at Ravinia. To order, send a check for $18.45, payable to Noteworthy, to: Noteworthy Publications, 1575 Oakwood Ave., Highland Park, Ill. 60035.)
