And now for something completely different: a sitcom that tries to prove the existence of God. Michael J. Fox loses a friend in an auto accident and re-examines his own life in a special one-hour episode that mixes pathos and punch lines in the style of a comic Arthur Miller. The script, a tour de force co-written by series creator Gary David Goldberg, gives Fox a chance for a virtuoso performance.
