The Stepford Wives was one of the greatest rotten movies ever made, a classic that gave us a new standard by which to judge the insipid of the world. This second Stepford sequel, starring Barbara Eden, Don Murray and Dick Butkus, could have been—should have been—the hoot of the year. Instead it is a comedy that pulls its punch lines: You see a punk kid with Don King coif and then you watch the town's dads drug him so he can be replaced with a model son, but unless you look hard, you'll never even notice the replacement. A magnificent opportunity wasted.
