C+

Three days before his boss, David Letter-man, heads to Las Vegas to broadcast for a week, Late Night's music man, Paul Shaffer, lands there for his first comedy special—a show as strange as the man. Shaffer headlines at the Tropicana and tools around town to make fun of all things Vegas. He gets off a few chucklable gags, like passion steaming up the mirror over his hotel bed. But he also makes scatological and crotch jokes, none too good. Even in a show about Vegas, I expected something hipper.
