I give you four reasons to watch Cyndi Lauper's concert from Paris: (1) You hear her speak French as it's never been spoken before—mirror see boocoo. (2) You hear her speak English as she's never spoken it before—almost like a normal person, without her freaky, shrieky vocal shtik. Pee-wee Herman and Bob Goldthwait should follow her example. (3) Cyndi puts on her own Paris fashion show, wearing a girdle for a skirt. (4) Here's the best reason: Cyndi sings up a thunderstorm. Unlike so many other performers, she doesn't insist on singing only her new stuff. She sings her best stuff, even if most of that does come from her first album: Time After Time, She Bop, Girls Just Want To Have Fun. And she gives songs from her second album that added touch they missed on vinyl: energy. So now you have every good reason to watch.
