Cinemax (Wed., Aug. 5, 7 p.m. ET)

B-

Cinemax Sessions brings together female rockers from three decades—Brenda Lee, Martha Reeves, Lesley Gore, Ronnie Spector, Mary Wells and co-hosts Grace Slick and Belinda Carlisle—to reprise never-moldy oldies: It's My Party, Heat Wave, My Guy. Sadly, some notes miss their key, some songs have been Vegas-ized, and the love-ya-babe chatter sounds like Sammy Davis Jr.'s typical talk show patter: "Wasn't she great? Wasn't she fabulous?...Is Brenda great or what?" Well, in fact, Brenda Lee is great when she sings I'm Sorry and That's All You Gotta Do. She doesn't show the years in her voice and her style. She alone makes the show worth watching.
