At last, the week brings us a great entertainer: George Gershwin, the composer of wonderful American music from Swanee to Rhapsody in Blue. This tribute, on the 50th anniversary of his death, is a lovely biography. Better still, the show goes to experts—performers Michael Feinstein and Linda Ronstadt, composer Virgil Thomson, conductors Michael Tilson Thomas and Leonard Bernstein—who explain just what made this music so special.
