Open up that handkerchief drawer. Already we have the first issue movie of the new season—the first of few, I hope. The trauma of this week: illiteracy. In a sincere and well-produced two-hour drama, Dennis Weaver plays a factory foreman who makes it through school and most of life without being able to read. The show reveals every possible problem Weaver has because he can't decipher menus, street signs or his granddaughter's Dr. Seuss book. When he admits he needs help, he gets it. The cause is good but the show could have accomplished its mission in half the time.
