CBS should take comfort in knowing it is not the only network with an imbecilic Vietnam show this season. CBS has Tour of Duty, a series; ABC has Proud Men, a movie. Peter Strauss plays a decorated soldier who went AWOL from Vietnam. Years later he returns to the family ranch to see his dying, disapproving dad, Charlton Heston. They still argue about the war. "My country, right or wrong, is that it?" Strauss says and Heston replies: "I guess that's about it." Wow, heavy. But Strauss joins the cattle roundup and proves he's a real man. Then father and son finally hug and ride off into the sunset. See, the war does have a happy ending.
