Picks and Pans Review: Tropical Birds

"Hello. Hello," squawks a chartreuse parrot as it blinks its peppercorn eyes. That greeting triggers a discordant chorus of tweets, cheeps and caws that might force non-bird fanciers to take flight. In each of six 10-minute segments, the camera focuses on a different South American exotic clinging to a perch (or, in the case of a noncooperative cockatoo, tiptoeing around it). The blue-and-gold macaw seems bewildered in the spotlight, while a channel-billed toucan indecorously pecks at the underside of its wing before this odd tape ends. (Environmental Video, $29.95)
