Picks and Pans Review: Solitudes: Loon Country by Canoe

UPDATED 10/19/1987 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 10/19/1987 at 01:00 AM EDT

Early morning in a canoe. A lonely oar dips into midnight blue water, a moose meanders through the shallows, and loons frolic in this excursion into the watery wilds of Ontario. The thump-thump-thump of a rustled grouse and the eerie wail of a timber wolf are sharply captured by Canadian filmmaker Dan Gibson. The images are not as vivid as the audio, but the imaginative viewer can commune with nature without getting damp feet. (Moss Music Group, Inc., 800-422-4869, $24.98)
