Michelle Pfeiffer makes the perfect '30s starlet: sexy and blond but not dumb, sad but not maudlin, glamorous but still human. In the first of three Tinseltown tales (this week's by John O'Hara) she plays "America's niece" Natica Jackson, a sweet actress who falls in love with a married man. Thanks to O'Hara, the story takes a weird, hairpin turn at the end. But the look, the feel and Pfeiffer couldn't be better.
