It was a week for AIDS benefits. At Carnegie Hall, Leonard Bernstein and Luciano Pavarotti made music together while rehearsing a concert for the N.Y. Gay Men's Health Crisis.

Who's that girl...Madonna? Yep. The mercurial Material Girl, wearing a hairpiece, reviewed her notes backstage with hubby Sean Penn at the AIDS Project L.A. fund raiser.

The on-and-off romance between U.S. News owner Mort Zuckerman and Gloria Steinem seemed on again at the opening-night party for Broadway's Into the Woods.

Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey caught Broadway's Burn This. He returns to Ireland in February to face reckless driving charges related to their car crash last summer.

Linda Ronstadt, with three amigos (count the hats), also took part in the L.A. AIDS benefit. She sings in Spanish on her new LP, Canciones de mi Padre (Songs of My Father).
