So maybe he didn't quite deserve the brouhaha surrounding his massive collection of live recordings (he would have had to be revealed as a combination of Sinatra, Beethoven and Ellington to live up to the anticipatory hyperbole). This restrained, subtle enterprise reminded everyone of how affecting and insightful he can be.
