Picks and Pans Review: All of Me

Toni Tennille

There's only one Gershwin tune here—They All Laughed—but like Tennille's first standards collection, this one is an unmitigated pleasure. Sammy Nestico's splashy, swingy arrangements again provide a perfect complement to Tennille's relaxed, seductive vocals. The selections include a number of too-seldom-heard tunes, such as Allen Jones's Easy Street and the Yip Harburg-Arthur Schwartz love song Then I'll Be Tired of You. Tennille's husband, Daryl Dragon, produced and added his synthesizers to a powerhouse big band including trombonist Bill Watrous and pianist Pete Jolly. (Gaia)
