Picks and Pans Review: American Playhouse: the Return of Hickey

It's a rare show that leaves a person wanting more; those are the only shows that deserve sequels. The Prodigious Hickey, an American Playhouse offering from last season, is not such a show. It left me wanting only to reclaim the hour of my life I'd squandered watching the thing. Nonetheless, here is the sequel, The Return of Hickey, with more Lawrenceville Stories about a New Jersey prep school and students who, except for their accents, would make the perfect PBS Brit twits. Once again, Zach (Gremlins) Galligan as Hickey leads these turn-of-the-century preppies through mild, mundane misadventures. Let's hope he does so for the last time.
