B+

As it shows us conductor Herbert von Karajan rehearsing Don Giovanni and a Wagner concert for the Salzburg Festival, this documentary not only gives us a captivating portrait of an artist—it also shows us a great boss who loves his work and knows how to get the best out of his workers. If American corporations were run by von Karajans, not MBAs, perhaps our dollar would be rising, not falling. (And by the way, even I must admit, the music is beautiful.)
