They aren't zombies and they don't spend much time in the stratosphere, but who's counting. This 1952 serial's hero, Larry Martin, uses the same dopey rocket backpack Commando Cody did in Radar Men from the Moon. (Zombies was one of the last theatrical serials; 1956's Blazing the Overland Trail ended the era.) Martin—briskly acted by Judd Holdren—is a bush leaguer who, as he zooms to face Martians out to destroy the world, radios headquarters, "Calling Sue." Sue (Aline Towne) replies, "Yes, Larry, come in." The 12 episodes last 167 minutes, and the Martians get little use out of Leonard Nimoy, who is billed ninth and whose big line is, "Yes, some of our small TNT bombs would do."
