Picks and Pans Review: Color Me Beautiful

UPDATED 07/11/1988 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 07/11/1988 at 01:00 AM EDT

Carole Jackson—her book Color Me Beautiful sold 3 million copies—focuses on the face in this hour-long tape but adds tips on harmonizing one's makeup with flattering wardrobe colors. Jackson, a color consultant, explains how to find your "color season" (she too categorizes women as winter, spring, etc.) and how to select makeup. The four-card "Color Me Beautiful Makeup Palette" offers sample shades of the best shadows, blushes, lipsticks and liners. Lessons on applying all those powders, paints and gooey creams are thorough, and creative tips for minimizing nature's bloopers abound. (Random House, $19.95; 800-638-6460)
