When it comes to chow, chow, chow, cats like a varied menu. People food is all right now and then, but just a nibble. Avoid raw meat and prey (rats and mice can transmit diseases). Health is another topic in this brisk primer, which demonstrates how to examine your pet from head to paw. And when it comes to keeping your kitty pretty, try gently pressing its paws to expose the claws for clipping (just the tips). At playtime give your cat toys it can stalk. A ball of socks is better than a ball of yarn, which can get caught in the animal's throat. There are plenty of tips in this 20-minute tape, but not the cat equivalent of the Heimlich maneuver.
