Picks and Pans Review: Olympic Viewing

There's just one good thing about an election year: It is also an Olympic year. These 1988 Games don't only provide relief from the hot air of the summer and its political conventions, they also fill a vacuum created by the writers' strike. After the Games begin—with an NBC preview show on Thurs., Sept. 15—there won't be much else on TV for more than two weeks. In fact without the Olympics, there'd be nothing on TV. So here is a brief guide to when and what to watch (see page 48 for tips on whom to watch).
