Picks and Pans Review: A How to Create the Life You Want to Live
If you're hazy on what karma is, you obviously missed this tape in, all your former lives, and the tape's host, aging hippie Dick Sutphen, is just the guy you need. Sutphen, author of You Were Born Again to Be Together, tells a group of seminar students that their karma, whether positive or negative, is the product of their beliefs in past lives. Displaying an irritating tendency to wink at people, Sutphen encourages us to change negative thoughts to positive ones in order to live the way we want. If you resent rich people because they're snobs, he warns, you'll never be rich. Instead, think of good things they can do with money. Negative thoughts can lead to rashes and even cancer, he theorizes. But he doesn't fully explain how to switch to the positive mode. The second part of this 90-minute tape is hypnosis by video. Bits of color and light on the screen shoot toward the viewer. Once under hypnosis, the viewer is asked to complete sentences such as "My general belief about sexual orgasm is..." If the answer isn't positive, says the voice, then make it so. If your answer to "I'll buy this tape when..." begins with "hell freezes...," stick to your guns.
