Hey, Vern. Your goofy neighbor Ernest P. Worrell (alias actor Jim Varney) is on the loose again. He sold all that stuff on TV (3,000 commercials for 85 different products) and that dumb flick he made last year, Ernest Goes to Camp, raked in $27 million. This new movie casts Ernest as a Florida cabbie out to help Santa (Douglas Seale) find a replacement. Santa's tired. So's the movie, which director John Cherry (the Tennessee ad man who created the Ernest TV spots) has loaded with product plugs. Old Scrooge would have pegged this one right off as humbug. (PG)
